Bisping has put together back-to-back wins inside the octagon after the disappointment of being edged out by Wanderlei Silva on his last trip to Australia, defeating Dan Miller and Yoshihiro Akiyama via unanimous decision. Rivera has racked up three straight wins inside the octagon and most recently knocked out Nate Quarry at UFC Fight Night 21 in March. The thirty-eight-year-old also defeated Rob Kimmons and Nissen Osterneck. He had hoped to make it four in a row last night before Sakara pulled out through injury.

The UFC middleweight duo of Michael Bisping and Jorge Rivera have verbally agreed to meet at UFC 127 in Sydney, Australia, this week with the fight likely to serve as the co-main event of the evening. Budding middleweight contender Jorge Rivera looks to quickly rebound after a disappointing turn of events at ufc 122. After a match up between fellow contender Alessio Sakara had been botched not once, but twice, you could understand how frustrated the Massachusetts native would be. At the age of 38 and with nearly 10 years clocked into the mixed martial arts world, it's now or never for Rivera. With his most recent resurgence, another win or two over credible opponents will make him an attractive challenger to the middleweight title. But first, Jorge must get through Michael Bisping. UFC 118, Jorge pulled out of the proposed bout with Sakara due to a broken arm. No worries, you could chalk that up to some bad luck, and a "live to fight another day" scenario. Then, a rematch was signed, sealed, and delivered at UFC 122but with just a few hours to go (on fight day nonetheless), Sakara fell ill and the bout was scrapped. Rather then attempt to reschedule the match for a third time, "El Conquistador" will be called to duty for UFC 127. The event is rumored to be the promotion's second venture into Australia, and several bouts have been rumored for the card with no official word as of late.
