Understanding Asthma Attacks Can Save Your Life

Asthma is horrible when it hits, but merely being aware that you suffer from the disease can paralyze you substantially

. The attacks can be quite life threatening, and you could live from day to day constantly being afraid that a crisis would strike at any time. Almost more than anything else, this is the part of the condition that you must overcome.

Asthmatic patients look normal until they get an attack. Although the attacks rarely last very long at any one time, they could be extremely severe. If not properly handled during this period, the sufferer could die. So, yes, if effectively handled and prevented, the condition isn't as bad as it seems.

It is difficult to say, 'this is the cause of asthma' or 'this is the reason why people suffer from the disease known as asthma.' The true origins of the condition have never been deciphered. Suffice merely to say that when you see a person begin to manifest serious breathing problems, something in the environment is causing it.

People who suffer from asthma should not live in dusty areas. The condition already is one in which their lungs and respiratory tracts have to work harder to get sufficient oxygen for them to survive. When they have to breathe in dust as well, they are only asking for more trouble. You really don't want to live with that.

Shortness of breath, gasping and wheezing are three of the most prominent symptoms that you will find in a patient that suffers from asthma. However, these three are not the worst that could happen. Imagine what it would be like if someday your lungs just collapsed and there was no machine to assist with you breathing. Well, that would be really bad, wouldn't you agree?

Some people treat asthma with regular drugs, but a number of other people think that you cannot fight an old disease with a new drug; sort of like pouring an old wine in a new bottle. They prefer to go way back to the old days when herbal medicine was still the in thing. Well, guess what, it works!
