The most widely known area for mouth-related halitosis is the tongue. The back area of the tongue is a good place for the bacteria to breed as it is dark, warm and often quite dry. No amount of mints, mouthwash or lozenges will help to get rid of the problem if the tongue is not being cleaned. If your are using a toothbrush to clean your tongue, you will find that it is merely spreading the bacterial accumulations on the tongue instead of removing them, which is what a tongue scraper does. So for maximum results, a tongue cleaner is a better option to remove many of the bad breath causes on the tongue. What is the best way to know if you have bad breath? If you are not willing to ask a family member of friend about your breath then you need to find a way of checking for yourself. The most well known way of finding out is to cup your hands around your nose and mouth and breathing out, however this is not effective at all. Simply lick your tongue on the back of your hand, wait a moment or two, and smell the saliva. This is a much more accurate indication of any bad smells coming from your mouth. It is always important to go to a doctor or a dentist if the bad breath causes cannot be eliminated, or it is getting worse.
