One of the biggest misconceptions I have seen in the blogging world is people think there is a correlation between the number of readers a blog has and the amount of traffic. If you are linked to by many different websites and blogs across the net then Google will see your blog as popular and rank it higher in their index. The last thing you will need to rank well in Google and the other major search engines is time. This is one of the biggest factors when Google is deciding where to place your blog. If your blog is still new then it has not had adequate time to build trust with Google so don't expect to see huge results until after the first year or so at least this was the case for my blog that covers online business.
