Understanding Different Types Of T1 Line Services

A T1 line is a high speed internet connection that is predominantly taken up by business and companies that need the best possible instant communication facilities. They utilize the latest in fiber optics and twisted copper to provide a transmitting capacity of 1.544 Mbps, this is far and above the level of broadband that most of us use in our homes. T1 also offer the possibility to have twenty four dedicated digital voice channels, perfect for those firms that need to keep in touch with their customers and clients.

As the price of T1 technology is decreasing on an annual basis, it is an option that can now be considered by a greater range of firms across all sectors, we should not think that it is a facility reserved only for those businesses operating in the IT field. As of today there is also the possibility of subscribing to a T2 or T3 line, though this is only really an option worth exploring if you need a virtually instant upload and download facility.

If it has been a while since you upgraded your business' communication network, the possibility of integrating a T1 line into its running should definitely be explored. It is suitable for small businesses as well as large corporations. Even government agencies have not been slow to uptake T1 technology.

Before deciding to sign up for a T1 service, it is worth noting that there are in fact a number of different options of lines that fall into this category. If you are not sure which of the following options would best suit your requirements, it is worthwhile consulting an ISP or specialist in this field.

An integrated T1 service offers voice and data facilities through the same digital circuit. With this choice it is up to the customer to decide how many of the twenty four channels should be dedicated for voice calls. A fractional T1 line will utilize only a portion of the total bandwidth available for a percentage of the full cost.

Another option is burstable T1's. These can also be called pay as you go services. Generally the bandwidth is limited though there is the option of boosting the amount when requirements dictate. The final option is bonded t1 lines. A bonded line provides maximum bandwidth to offer the best speed and performance available. A bonded t1 connection utilizes a combination of single lines.

When checking out the contracts that are offered to you, make sure you understand exactly what you will get for your money. There should be no hidden fees or unwanted surprises that arise only after the deal has been signed.

It would make sense to opt for a contract that included the set up fee, line installation, and equipment rental expenses. The length of the contract should not be too long in duration unless it provides an ease of scalability for when your requirements change. Also be aware that new technology is coming online on a regular basis which quickly makes old concepts redundant.
