Understanding Structural Energetic Therapy
Our body posture may probably be deemed with less importance especially without knowledge
regarding its importance in providing complete health and well being for the human body. Most of us look at it as a frame which makes us different and distinguished from one another. However, aside from that purpose, it is also responsible for the positioning of the various essential parts of our body which includes the internal organs. There are types of massage therapies that use body restructuring techniques in order to properly address various dysfunctions, disorders, and medical conditions.
Structural Energetic Therapy or SET, is a type of therapeutic massage that incorporates various massage techniques in providing a healthy lifestyle and quality life. The techniques include myofascial release, deep tissue massage, kinesiology, acupressure, postural analysis, and other methods commonly used in alternative medical care.
Most of the patients who experience various medical conditions and dysfunctions are usually caused by structural imbalance. Whenever the whole body is not in its proper position or alignment, the usual outcome is a body full of health issues. A simple yet easy to understand explanation to this is when the shoulder is constantly tucked; the tendency is that the tissues as well as the organs around and below are moved out of their proper places which in turn do not function properly as there are restrictions such as the amount of working space. All of the organs and essential parts of the body were designed to work in their right positions. Basically, in order to restore their proper performance level, the therapist should work on realigning or restructuring the clients body.
During the therapy session, the massage therapist analyzes the posture of the client in order to detect the health problems. Aside from the postural analysis, the therapist also assesses the condition of the patient in order to know what to avoid and to check for contraindications to the treatment. As the physical evaluation is completed, the therapist then begins to warm up the body by conducting cranial/structural therapy to initiate the rebalancing or realignment process. From this part of the therapy onwards, the client can clearly feel comfort and relaxation as the body itself releases locked up tensions on the various areas of the physical constitution. Myofascial release and deep tissue massage techniques are then used on the patients body to work on the affected tissues of the client. Muscle testing is done frequently to check up on the progress of the treatment.

Once the therapist has eliminated harmful fluids and toxins from the body, the patient can expect relief and recovery from his or her conditions. Patients who are suffering from many different types of chronic pain can experience comfort from the release of tension on the muscle tissues, especially on the back, neck, and shoulder
