Understanding The History Of Tools
Tools and machinery have evolved into extremely intricate items to help human beings create amazing projects
. They have been used since the beginning of civilization.
Artifacts resembling tools have been found in the excavation of sites that once belonged to past cultures, tribes, and beings. It seems that humans have been using them to build and create things for thousands of years.
They are essentially around to help make individual's lives easier and to perform tasks that otherwise may not be able to be done. Instruments are used by all different types of people for all different projects and purposes.
Animals also make use of them, mostly for eating. A primate may used a rock to open a coconut or other hard-shelled fruit.
Anthropologically, the use of them has been very important in the progression of mankind and the evolution of technology. The more intelligent and advanced that man has become the more intricate and useful the instruments are that have been invented.
Some of the first tools were used in the killing of prey. These include knives, spears, clubs, and bows and arrows.
They had to be created so that man could pierce the flesh and hides of animals to eat them. These eventually evolved into more advanced weapons like guns and crossbows.
Some of the first building tools were created in ancient Egypt and used on the pyramids. Workers and slaves utilized chisels to shape large chunks of rock into blocks, which were then placed in rows and build into stories.
They also made use of pulley systems to lift heavy boulders and burdens. Pulleys consist of wheels and ropes, that when used together, make it easier for the human body to lift things that weight much more than they do.
They also used hammers and shovels to shape things and make mortar to seal the blocks together. All of these tools are still in use today when it comes to building structures.
However, they have been developed and advanced to shape materials in a very precise manner. Another object that has evolved greatly is the saw.
The saw was once designed to be used by two men at once to cut down trees for building. They have become very useful when it comes to cutting wood for home building and slicing through any object that needs to be shortened or shaped.
The original saw was eventually turned into a hand variety, and then into an electric chain type that is so powerful it can be operated by one man and cut a massive grouping of things. The band saw, created in 1807 by William Newburry, has been perfected and made into a powerful tool still used today.
World War II brought on a whole new grouping of machines that assisted individuals in the creation of large aircrafts and vehicles. In order to make an airplane aerodynamic, the metal used on the outside to seal it and protect it must be thin but durable.
Plate rollers have been invented to turn large chunks of metal into sheets, which are then used for a number of different projects, like vehicles and aircrafts. They are able to do something so difficult and requiring so much strength that human beings would probably be lost without them.
There are a number of other small items that assist in building that go unnoticed in their effectiveness until you need them. Measuring tapes make it possible for those constructing edifices to make every side and angle equal.
Without this, buildings would fall and not have enough strength to withstand weather and natural disasters. Proper measurements are very important when it comes to the physics of how homes and buildings stay standing.
Drills, screws, and screwdrivers are responsible for holding things like walls and planks together. Without them, homes would not be built and all other types of instruments could not stay put together.
Though they may seem small and insignificant, they are the foundation by which all other machinery and edifices are able to stand and have strength. All of the technology that humans have developed would not have been created if it weren't for primitive man and his introduction of tools into hunting and daily life.
As society becomes more developed and intelligent, we will need instruments that can assist us do the things that our bodies and minds are limited in. The more intelligent mankind grows to be, the more impressive our instruments will become.
