Understanding The Right Beer Serving Temperature
For a beer lover, the sight of huge beer vessels in operation will definitely be a mouth-watering experience
. With so many types of beer to choose from, making a choice between a dark and a light beer for example is not normally easy. One thing that is clear with beer lovers is that a good number of them do not know how to choose the right beer for that ultimate experience. They may just choose a beer by brand name or colour and hope to enjoy it without considering other factors. But one of the best ways of choosing the right beer is temperature. A good brewer will always know the right temperatures for serving particular types of beer so as to make it always enjoyable.
A good understanding of how beer should be served will go a long way in making you enjoy sipping and sampling the different unique flavours of different beers. Unfortunately, many restaurants serve refrigerated beers in ice cold mugs. Many people also keep refrigerated beer at home and take it directly from the refrigerator without regard to temperature. This is not right as the beers' flavours are not experienced as they should while the true spirit of the beer cannot be realised. This is because extreme cold camouflages the real taste of the beer. Therefore, beer served direct from a refrigerator will definitely spoil the real beer drinking experience. The cold sensation definitely interferes with your tongue's ability to taste the beer correctly. But it seems there has been a long held myth that beer should always be served when very cold. This is not correct.
It is important to understand that different beers are best served at different temperatures. Experience has shown us that each type of beer should be served at its particular recommended temperature. There is quite some relationship between beer serving temperatures and colours. Beers that are light, pale or golden coloured should be served at room temperature after they are removed from the refrigerator. The same is required of wheat-based beers which should then be served in flute-shaped glasses. Darker beers need less chilling. Ten to fifteen minutes of refrigeration is ideal for dark stout beers. These can then be served in chalice shaped beer glasses. Remember you are looking for that ultimate enjoyment and satisfaction from each sip of the beer that you take.
Getting to understand the right temperatures for serving beer is quite important for those who really want to enjoy every sip. There are many online sources where one can learn about the recommended temperatures for serving various types of beers. But for those who really wish to enjoy their favourite beer to the fullest, it is always worth remembering that taking refrigerated beer in mug that is filled with ice is not always the right thing to do. If however you want to enjoy the exquisite malt flavour of a dark stout beer, you can probably have it slightly chilled before taking it if at all it has to be chilled. This will make you enjoy your meal and the accompanying beer quite well.
