Unearthing Your Effective Spanish Learning Style
The three key types of learner are: Visual, Auditory and Kinesthetic
. Visual learners learn best when they can visualize the information they want to recall. Auditory learners can easily recall things that they hear, like a conversation. Kinesthetic learners opt to be more hands on; opting to do things in order to learn about them (or even just to move while they are learning, such as repeating lists of items to remember while they are working around the house). Knowing which type of learner you naturally are can benefit you in learning Spanish on your computer. Specific ways of remembering and experiencing stuff are effective depending on your learning style.
You possibly don't know what type of learner you by nature are. Which of these topics describe you most?
1. You love activities and sports.
2. You have a "to do" list.
3. You produce jingles to remember things. You often have music going in your head.
4. You never forget a face (though you don't always dwell upon the name).
5. You read everything; posters, magazines, advertisements on the subway, product packaging, menus, memos, websites...and often spot mistakes in them.
6. You dont want people to tell you how to do something, like putting something together; you like to do it yourself.
7. You get jittery when you must sit still and listen. You want to move around.
8. Youd rather have someone tell you directions than look at instruction.
9. You need the direction book!
10. You can remember the words to music, and are quite relaxed learning Spanish with audio.
Did numbers 2, 4 and 5 and 9 describe you? You are likely a Visual learner.
Did numbers 3, 8 and 10 describe you? You are probably an Auditory learner.
Did numbers 1, 6 and 7 describe you? You are likely a Kinesthetic learner.

However, it is also possible that you answered yes to a different combination of answers. Generally, we use all of our senses to learn things. But in a bunch of cases, one set of senses is naturally in tune than the others. If you tend to learn in one of the 3 ways above, then you should use learning techniques that suit you. It just makes understanding easier!
Example: If you are above all a Visual learner: read conversation transcripts while you are listening. Pen the conversation on a pad while you are listening or saying it. Find a Spanish website or article on a theme you like, and skim read to try to try to find some of the new words you have learned.
If you are mainly an Auditory learner, listen to conversations in Spanish On a CD/MP3 player. Find a Spanish radio station and sing along, listening hard for any of the new words you have learned.
If you are mainly a Kinesthetic learner, write down the transcripts from conversations while you are listening the first few times. Later, try walking around with audio conversations playing in the background, while you do chores. If you are joining in the speaking, use your hands to show the up and downintonation of the phrases. For more practice, dance to your Spanish music MP3's, while hearing out words you have learned!
