Hugh Riley, the Secretary General of the Barbados-based Caribbean Tourism Organisation, said: The pressure on creativity is heating up with planners thinking of more innovative ways to satisfy the demands of couples, from weddings underwater and palm-fringed gazebos to the always romantic sunset backdrop.

There are plenty of unique options for Caribbean weddings, whether it is a romantic ceremony on a soft sandy beach at sunset, aboard a luxury yacht against the backdrop of the sparkling Caribbean Sea, or exchanging vows underwater while scuba diving.

Stuart Coves in Nassau in the Bahamas offers unique weddings abroad where couples can take part in an underwater ceremony with PADI-certified experts as their witnesses.

Diving instructor, Ida Stjernstrom, explained: Couples who marry in the sea wear masks with microphones so they can say their vows as they sit fifty feet down on the ocean floor on a wreck called the Ray of Hope.
