Unique Dress Up Games for Your Child's Party by:Julia Dave
Games that involve dressing up and pretending are often favorite activities for young girls and even teenagers
. If you have a sleepover or birthday party coming up, dress up games can help keep your guests occupied and entertained, especially if they're games that have a unique twist.
Foil Makeover
Divide the players into pairs. Give each pair a roll of aluminum foil, some string and some tape. Have the pairs pick one person to start off as the designer. When you say "Go," the designers will use the materials you gave them to create a unique look for their model partners. After a 10-minute limit, the players switch roles and the model becomes the designer. Once everyone has become transformed into foil-covered models, have everyone rate the designs but have them vote anonymously on categories such as "most creative," "most glamorous" and "funniest." Be creative when coming up with categories and award prizes for the winner of each category and an overall prize for the designer whose outfit receives the most votes.
Find the Makeup
Gather up three shades of each type of the following makeup: blush, lipstick and eyeliner. Create three lists consisting of three types of makeup in different shades. For example, one list would include pink blush, purple lipstick and green eyeliner; the other two would contain different colors entirely. Hide the items around the play space. Divide the guests into three groups and give each of them one of the lists. The groups each have to find the items on their lists and put the makeup they found on one of their players. The first group to find their makeup and put it on a team member wins.
Fashionable Music
Put a variety of accessories, such as jewelry, scarves and hats inside a large purse. Make sure there are plenty of items inside the handbag. Have all the players sit on the floor in a circle and hand one of the players the bag. Have a CD ready to play and when the music begins, the first player must hand the bag to the person on her right; this person must then hand the bag to the person on her right and so on. The purse continues traveling around the circle until the music is turned off randomly. The person left with the purse when the music goes off picks an item out of the purse without looking and puts it on. The music is then turned on and play continues until the purse is empty. The game should provide plenty of opportunities for funny and memorable photos.
ABC Fashion
Write each letter of the alphabet on separate slips of paper. Place the slips into a hat. Divide the players into two teams. Each team pulls out three slips of paper. When you say "Go," the players have to go on a scavenger hunt to find items with names that start with the letters they've been given. Tell the players that the items must be something they can wear (and be sure to hide items before the party so there are plenty of available options for guests to find). For example, if a team has the letters "H," "D" and "P," they can find a hat, a dress and a purse. To win the game, a team has to locate the appropriate items and dress up one of their teammates before any other team.
