University Towns As A Cradle Of Unique Student Culture

University towns may be regarded as the important aspect of student culture development

. These towns are created near the large universities, or near clusters of smaller universities, and are mainly populated by students. Hence, the development of student culture may be observed in an isolated environment. In fact, the main aim of the college town creation, is the increase of the comfort level for students. Nevertheless, particularities of cultural development are inevitable.

Culture Development in University Towns

In fact, culture that is developed in an isolated student community may be divided into formal and informal tendencies. Surely, there is no necessity to analyze all of them, however, the main directions of culture development should be regarded. Formal culture:

1.Scientific life

2.Administrative regulation

3.Cultural life (concerts and university parties)

4.Educational traditions

Informal tendencies:

1.Studentification

2.Students parties

3.Celebration of exam passing

4.Informal student movements

In general, these tendencies are the inevitable aspects of student culture development. On the one hand, students are free from the influence of the outer world, as they are ambitious and energetic enough for not accepting the outer influence. On the other hand, they aim to preserve and develop their traditions, and some of them are transferred into adult life. Hence, student towns may be regarded as the cradle of national culture. University towns provide students with an extensive life experience and the set of moods and considerations needed for further adult life. Consequently, studentship is mainly formed not in the universities, but in the student towns, where they have an opportunity to study various behavior models in an isolated community. Hence, they leave these towns prepared for acting in various environments, as they have already tried various behavior models within an isolated community.
