Unless Your Attic Is Haunted, Those Are Critters You Hear

In many homes, it's not uncommon to at times hear noises in your attic

. This noise might be heard during just certain parts of the day, but it's something that is really there. For many, it's hard to know exactly what it is or what can be done about this type of issue.

Each year when it turns colder, many pests go into your attic looking for some form of shelter. Most noises that come from the attic are a type of pest problem that needs to be dealt with.

The most common pests to get into your attic and cause problems are mice, rats, squirrels, and sometimes raccoons. All of these need to be dealt with because there is a potential hazard with all of them. Besides being dirty and carrying diseases, these pests tend to chew on your electrical wiring. Many house fires are caused by pests like these meaning that you need them out of the attic.

What can you do about these pests?

The easiest thing is to call a pest control company and have them take care of it. If you have the money and don't want to bother with it, just call a company to take care of it for you.

If you are doing on your own you have some options. The first is poisons. This technique uses baits to lure the pest which will then kill them once ingested. This is effective although many pests end up dying and smelling up your attic which is why this is not the greatest option.

Another option is to trap the pests. There are some very cheap traps that you can get. Bait these with peanut butter as all these attic pests tend to like this. Once the pest gets inside, they won't be able to escape. Check these traps daily.

Find the entrance point as well. This needs to be sealed up completely so that the pests won't continue to get into your home.
