Unwearable Textiles: Innovative Way of Textile Recycling

The world is facing right now one of the most controversial issues which are the global warming. First world countries are on hand and very grave in undertaking this issue together with economic problems, terrorism, and criminality. The US alone, its legislative body has been making ways and laws about the intervention in the ongoing environmental degradation. At present, aside from the economic situation of the first world countries, G20 leaders will also be embarking upon conservation of environment and use of a more eco-friendly materials and sources of energy. The US, through the majority of democrats (a major political party leading environmental awareness bills) is taking the floor.

However it seems that the collaborative efforts of world leaders representing their respective governments are not in many terms effective in answering the course of environmental changes. Just this year, the US government has been shaken by the turmoil BP, an international oil company, has been involved in. The oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico concerning the BP's drilling area has been reported to have exploded thus tons of oil and its by products are disgorging out into the sea. Though this is so far another story in retrospect with the government's campaign to end the use of CFC's the impact is still something about the environment that somehow, because of the damage it caused and the area it has affected seems to be a failure on the part of the administration.

On the other hand, the movements never fade out as even citizens are taking part in the conservation of the environment. The BP oil spill is somehow being taken care of by the environmentalist and at least a little of mitigation of the problem is expected. Not to mention the thousands of institutions who expressed willingness to join including the fabric industry.

In connection with the present situation that the world is experiencing in terms of environmental crisis, textile industries the main powerhouses who make our workwear uniforms have also made their own way to help in the intervention and preservation by adopting a particular technology that will help them recycle textile. The scheme comes with the fact that a large percentage of the textile being products are made from synthetic materials which are not biodegradable.

In the article posted at environmental-expert.com, it said that the European Union is spearheading a project that recycles "unwearable textiles."

"The European Union project has developed a machine which can automatically sort unwearable textiles by chemical composition and colour, creating a new market for low-grade textiles. The textiles are then shredded and spun into new threads, which are woven into new textiles for use in making new clothes," the article read.

If this project soon becomes worldwide, we are going to expect at least 80% reduction of wastes from used textiles. A large percentage of human wastes which primarily consists of non-biodegradable wastes will now be recycled for future usage. So, look forward that when your workwear uniforms becomes too old to be worn, then its time it needs some upgrading by having it sorted out and recycled.
