Urology Coding: Dont Scrap Pqri

If all of your physicians are spirited about participating in Physician Quality Reporting

Incentive (PQRI) except one or two holdouts who are tentative about the program, you can still go ahead and take part without those practitioners.

Bottom line: Say your practice employs four urologists, three of whom are happily plugging along with the program, and one who is not interested in participating. You can even gather PQRI bonuses for the three who take part.

Each one is individually analyzed for qualification. That fourth person, however, their charges will not be counted toward the bonus. The Physician Fee Schedule charges for the three participating physicians will count toward the bonus, while the fourth physicians charges wont.

Lookout for upcoming bonuses

CMS officials addressed the fact that many practices are keen to get their bonus payments for 2009, noting that e-prescribing incentive payments will be issued starting September while PQRI payments will start in October.

Feedback reports: If you are on the lookout for your PQRI feedback reports based on their national provider NPI.

Remember: If you request feedback reports related to the TIN, or the tax identification number, you will still have to register in the IACS system and access your reports through a secure website through IACS.
