Of the survey respondents, about 65 percent said the USA offered the best opportunity for price appreciation, with China coming in a far second with only 10 percent of the vote. It was a sharp departure from the same survey held in 2006 when only 23 percent of foreign investors put the US at the No. 1 position.
The association of foreign investors in real estate believes that the slackening recession is encouraging investors to become more ebullient about the growth prospects for the USA economy. In an economic turnaround, the real estate industry is often the first to feel the rebound.
Apart from current market developments, the USA property market is also considered good investment because of the countrys advantageous location. For example, the USA climate is varied, its coastline is long and there are many regions for all tastes and needs of homebuyers. So homebuyers can choose to buy property in the cold Midwest or in sunny California.
Then there is the matter of accessibility. All kinds of transport modes are available cheap between the USA and other parts of the world such that people from Europe or Australia can visit properties in the USA easily, sometimes this can even be a tax deduction.
