There are different types of contaminants that are generated and are created by external environment, different kinds of equipments, people, processes and other facilities.

Clean room equipments may be of different types, some may be moderate or some may be extremely large. Clean rooms may be of various kinds, but in every type everything is sterilized or decontaminated. The environment inside these equipments is controlled, where all tools and the materials that are kept are sterilized. For instance, if we consider an example of ICU, the hospitals ward, all the equipments and materials that are used are sterilized and generally the entry is restricted for anyone who is not involved in the medical procedure. Over the years, clean room equipments have become much more cost effective due to the up gradation of technology.

Factors like humidity, temperature, quality of air, and moisture are regulated and maintained in order to protect sensitive equipments, apparatus, samples or gadgets from getting infected from the influence outside. The size and vastness of these equipments depend on the requirement of industry. These systems can vary from an office cubicle to fairly a spacious room, but its distinctiveness lies in the fact that these equipments can be portable, fixed or modular; which ever mode is suitable for the company. Clean room systems are incorporated with the latest technology and the technology that is used in preserving these systems are tedious and complex. Preferably, every class room system should be maintained in laminar air flow, to avoid confusion and further obstructions. Professionals who work inside these systems wear special gloves, masks, head covers or suits to ensure that there is no contamination.

As stated above, there are several ways to keep the environment dust free. Special filters are used to remove impurities and these specially designed filters are known as HEPA that are specifically used to filter particles of size as small as 0.3 microns. With the use of these equipments, there would be no contaminants that will be allowed into the controlled space and if there are contaminants found, they will be removed immediately.
