Use Bubble Wrap For Protection When Posting Glass Items

The protection of any items that you are sending through the post should be at the forefront of your thoughts when packing them. This is even more applicable if you are sending anything that is made from glass or has glass parts on it. If you are sending something like this then there is clearly a high chance of it breaking if it is not packaged correctly. To help prevent any unnecessary breakages from occurring you should make sure that you protect such items with bubble wrap. Doing this will give a cushioned layer that will stop damage from any minor bumps meaning the recipient isn't literally left to pick up the pieces. Different items will need to be packed in different ways, some may need to use extra layers while other may just need one or two.

Lets take a glass vase as an example to look at the best way that it should be packaged. When sending something like this that is made completely from glass, there is clearly going to be a large risk of a breakage during delivery. You have got to make sure that you give sufficient cushioning on all sides to help prevent this. One of the major points is that you should not have any part of the vase touching the sides of the box that you package it in. Failing to do this means that if the box is dropped and lands on that particular part then it will be the vase that takes the brunt of the impact. You also need to make sure that the item isn't rattling about inside so don't use a box that is much bigger than the item being sent. You should stuff the box with balls of newspaper or packing peanuts and then place the vase in the middle of this. The vase should be wrapped with a couple of layers of bubble wrapping and should also have some of it inside to fill it out so that it is not a hollow shell. Doing all of this will give your package the best possible chance of arriving in the condition it is meant to.

For anything that only has some glass in it such as a photo frame then you don't have to provide as much protection but still need to make sure that there is enough to prevent damage. Putting a couple of layers of bubble wrap around the frame and then posting it in a padded envelope should be sufficient. Any item that has even the smallest chance of breaking should be packaged carefully, doing so will mean you wont be wasting money on things that end up in pieces.
