Feng shui color knowledge can allow you to choose the right colors to create harmony in any living or working space as well as it can be used with anything that involves choosing colors. According to feng shui color specifications, colors should not be used randomly but should used according to what they represent.

Each one of the five elements, water, wood, fire, earth and metal are represented by different colors and that allows us to create a feng shui color based harmony. The element, metal, is represented by the colors white, silver, gray and gold. Using any of the colors within these last two groups would add more of the element which they represent.

A house position also determines the color which we should ideally use on the exterior. A house facing south should be white, gray or blue, facing SW it should be in red or earth shades, facing west it should be in blue or green and if it is facing north it should have green shades or red. A house facing NE should be painted in earth shades or red, and if it is either facing east or SE it should be in metal or earth shades.

Before using Feng shui in your home you need to ensure that your walls are prepared correctly. The tools and materials used for patching a wall are very important in terms of ease of use and satisfactory results. Choose a good four or six inch putty knife. A good putty knife will have medium flexibility, it should flex slightly when pressed against a wall. As a rule most patching compounds that dry quickly are difficult to sand. I recommend standard wallboard ( taping ) joint compound for patching wallboard (drywall) or plaster. A mudd tray or a clean flat board with a straight edge will also be needed.
