Use Math Manipulatives

Let us discuss about the introduction to math manipulatives

. The math manipulatives is mainly used to understanding the math. The math manipulatives is called as the teachers to the help of the students study.

The control of use math manipulatives is that allow to the student mathematical thoughts any symbols to objects. The mainly known as the manipulatives are solving the problems in students to facilities to the tools.

Explanation of the Use Math Manipulatives

The math manipulatives is the establishment of agrees learn the little kids understand the mathematics concepts. Next we see the objective support to the math manipulatives.

The first step of objective support is the math manipulatives are the objectives of the teaching. The teaching objects are called as the main help of the student to explain the particular subject. The teachers to explain the subject in neat images and explanations of the text books.

The second step is called as the give opportunity to become familiar with manipulatives previous to they are used in the example.The third step is known as the child selects the planning and topics. They cannot every child study to the similar way. Next we see the example problem of the use math manipulatives.

Example Problem of Use Math Manipulatives

Problem 1:

Calculate the area of the circle? The radius of a circle is 4 inches.

structure of 4 inches circle

Solution:

The area of the circle formula is A = 'Pi' r2

r = 4

A = 3.14 * 4 * 4

= 3.14 * 16

= 18.84

The area of the 4 inches circle is A = 18.84

Problem 2:

Calculate the area of the circle? The diameter of a circle is 7 cm.

diagram represent 7 cm diameter of circle

Solution:

The area of the circle formula is A = 'Pi'r2

To find the radius formula is r = diameter / 2

r = 7 / 2

r = 3.5

A = 3.14 * 3.5 * 3.5

= 3.14 * 12.25

= 38.465

The area of the 4 inches circle is A = 38.465

In mathematics, a manipulative is an object which is designed so that a learner can perceive some mathematical concept by manipulating it, hence its name. The use of manipulatives provides a way for children to learn concepts in a developmentally appropriate, hands-on and an experiencing way. Mathematical manipulatives are used in the first step of teaching mathematical concepts, that of concrete representation. The second and third step are representational and abstract, respectively.

In the United States, prior to the late 1980s, manipulatives and student collaboration were nonexistent in elementary math classes. After 1989, due to a decision by the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics (NTCM), more creativity began to emerge in these elementary schools.[1] This creativity took the form of manipulatives that modeled the addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division students used to have to memorize from practice.

Mathematical manipulatives can be purchased or constructed by the teacher. Examples of commercial manipulatives include tangrams; Cuisenaire rods; numicon patterns; Diene's blocks; interlocking cubes; base ten blocks; pattern blocks; colored chips; links; fraction strips, blocks, or stacks; color tiles; Shape Math; and geoboards. Examples of teacher-made manipulatives used in teaching place value are beans and bean sticks or bundles of ten popsicle sticks and single popsicle sticks.

Virtual manipulatives for mathematics are computer models of these objects. Notable collections of virtual manipulatives include The National Library of Virtual Manipulatives and the Ubersketch.

Multiple experiences with manipulatives provide children with the conceptual foundation to understand mathematics at a conceptual level and are recommended by the NTCM.

Some of the manipulatives are now used in other subjects in addition to mathematics. For example, Cuisenaire rods are now used in language arts and grammar, and pattern blocks are used in fine arts.
