Use Roberts Rules Made Simple Solution
Roberts Rules of Order written by Brig
Roberts Rules of Order written by Brig. Gen. Henry Martyn Robert is the etiquette to be followed in the assembly house or when conducting a meeting. It attempts to bring order back into the chaos that most meetings degenerate into. Roberts Rules of Order are laid down precisely and will result in a productive meeting in your organization provided all who attend the meeting follow it. The intention is that the meetings should be fruitful and not a waste of time for all who attend it. It was believed that while there should be order, it should not be so stifling so as to prevent members from participating fully and constructively.
History Of The Book
Brig. Gen. Robert found he did not have adequate knowledge of the correct conduct of proceedings when asked to chair a church meeting. Later while being actively involved in different organizations, he realized that nowhere was there a uniform set of rules which could guide how meetings could be conducted effectively. He also realized that in conducting parliamentary meetings too, different people had different opinions. He strongly felt the need for a set of rules which would guide the conduct of members in any meeting. Thus was born Roberts Rules of Order outlining proper conduct of members and the correct way to conduct a meeting.
Concepts Of The Book
Since the book was written early in the 20th century, there is some difficulty in interpreting the terminology used. The basic precept of Roberts Rules of Order is that every member who attends the meeting must have a right to give his opinion in an orderly way. Brute force of the majority should not trample on the views and opinions of the minority. The end of the meeting should result in a decision that is commendable and of service to the society the committee intends to serve. Basically Roberts Rules of Order is a manual guiding conduct of business in the parliament.
Roberts Rules for All
Roberts Rules of Order made simple attempts to bring the contents of the book to a wider group of people. With the use of modern day English,
Robert's Rules of Order helps to build up confidence in people and teaches them techniques to attend meetings productively or chair meetings effectively. They learn how not to get sidetracked during a meeting and ensure full participation of all members. Business is conducted efficiently and to the point, so there is a conclusion to the meeting. Every attempt to digress or bring in personal elements is strongly discouraged.
