White is no doubt the traditional wedding color; whether it's a winter, fall or summer wedding, white isn't a color you can exclude from your wedding arrangements. For Brides having a summer or fall wedding, keeping white color well balanced is never a problem but in winter when you've got snowflake or winter frost themes, keeping the white well balanced is hard.
What a lot of brides do is add deep red or burgundy in the wedding colors. While it may seem like a good idea since it's a popular winter and Christmas color, the truth is that all that red on white might make your reception look like a candy cane. You can't just use splashes of a single color to drown out all the white in a winter wedding and you can't add a ribbon to everything either.
The best way to balance the white is to plan where and how you're going to add color to your white wedding. The aisle runner, the table napkins, the napkin rings the centerpieces are the best places for some color. If you're using red, make sure it's a deep shade and add golden or silver somewhere to take away the candy cane effect.
Use fresh fruit bouquets as centerpieces to add some great color tones or keep things subtle by using chocolate covered strawberries and combine deep red and chocolate brown in an elegant way. Try and avoid using blue because it will highlight the white even more and give a frostier look to the reception.
