Used Alfa Romeo 156 Croydon

Alfa Romeo introduced the 156 at the 1997 Frankfurt Motor show; it was the replacement for the 155. The 156 was available as a saloon or an estate. Production of the 156 stopped in 2005, when it was replaced by the 159.

You can still pick up a quality used Alfa Romeo 156 in Croydon as they have grown in popularity as they have aged and got cheaper. Alfa Romeo have always produced beautiful; cars and the 156 was no exception, even after 6-7 years the 2002 models look fresh and modern.

A vast range of engines have been fitted to 156 from a basic-but-lively 1.6 T-Spark to a 3.2 V6 fitted to the high performance GTA. The 1.8-litre and 2.0-litre petrol models are the best all-rounders offering flexible performance with reasonable economy. The 156 also gets Fiat/Alfa Romeo's renowned common-rail JTD diesel engines.

The stylish looks and performance engines have come at a cost, the boot space in the 156 is not practical enough, and the leg room in the back seats is the worst in its class. Saying that, the seats are very nicely sculptured and comfortable on long journeys, and if you need boot space buy the estate version!

Servicing is generally good value at Alfa Romeo dealers and insurance is about average for the class. Harsh depreciation is the biggest cost - it's the nature of this market but buying used counters this, making it more competitive.
