Uses Of Precision Copper Strips

A precision copper strip is a rectangular ribbon

, which has been hot rolled or cold rolled from refined copper ores as per specified dimensions. Also known as electromechanical copper strip, it is the most preferred metal compared to other metals because of the following reasons:

1. It provides good electrical as well as thermal conductivity;

2. It offers better dimensional control;

3. It is sturdy and lasts long;

4. It has the good properties of elasticity and suppleness;

5. It has better mechanical properties and has low thermal expansion.

These features and properties make copper the most preferred component for industrial applications as well as household applications and architectural projects.

The demand for precision copper strips is always on the rise as it caters the demand of numerous industries. Despite tough competition from other metals, copper strip is being intensively used by heavy electrical companies to manufacture power transmissions, power generators, power transformers, power distributions, electrical motors, and so on. Besides electrical industries, it is also widely used by electroplating, automobiles, and other manufacturing industries to manufacture wide range of industrial and household appliances. As far as the architectural projects are concerned, copper strips are used for building roofs, rain gutters, vaults, domes, doors, and so on.

A copper strip has exceptional solder and welding properties, which enables the fabricator, easily and efficiently fabricate various applications. Besides, copper is one of those metals that do not corrode or rust even in moist or wet conditions, which makes it an ideal component for various mechanical as well as architectural applications.

The varieties of precision copper strips are available in both bare and covered form. A bare copper strips are extensively used by automatic machines such as high speed stamping machine. It increases efficiency and output productivity of these machines. In addition, it helps control wastage and enables machine to produce good quality output. Besides, these strips are also used to make radiator, water heater, vaults, roofs, rain gutters, electrical panel boards, railway electrification, busbar, and so on.

As far as the covered copper strips are concerned, they are identical to bare strips, but they are shielded with fiberglass, enamel, paper, or other material. Paper covered strips are widely found in switchgears and oil-filled transformers. It basically controls the mechanical properties of the copper strips in the liquid or chemical filled environment. Enameled and fiberglass strips on the other hand are widely used by electrical industries to manufacture induction coils and electrical apparatus. By using covered strips in such appliances, it enhances voltage and shockproof characteristics.
