However, do not overdo with the treats otherwise they will be dependent on them to respond appropriately. The treats should only be used at the beginning part of the training phase where he is learning to associate things. However, when he is not undergoing training, so not give him that same treat or else you would only create dependency and there would the learning experience will no longer be special. At first with the treats, he will learn that following commands will reap him rewarding treats. Slowly over time, you can complement first and then later exchange it with other rewarding experiences like praising or playing with him.
