The additional infrared detector channel from the scan collects IR radiations along with resolution of three visible colors: red, green and blue. The combination of both radiation and colors is used to check for dust and scratches.


This combination works wonderfully as the three colors are invisible to infrared light, while the scratches may be seen, so the cleaning process is done smoothly. However, along with the colors,the dust particles are also missed by the IR light. This is where RGB light helps, as the dirt appears as black spots in the colored rays. Using both to your advantage, you can correct the faults.

Using infrared for cleaning is ideal to remove and reduce the effect of dust particles and harmful scratches while actually scanning the document. This results into a clear and accurate scanned image or document. Using the same technology, one may view the document placed on the glass in two different lights and correct the problems with the image using the edit tool.
