Inverse operation is a operation that reverses the effect of another operation. We can solve equation by using inverse operations that is undo each other. It means if we undo addition, you need to subtract.
Ex:
Addition and subtraction
Multiplication and division
We can solve inequalities by using inverse operations. In the same way, we can solve equations solving inverse operations. The methods of solving inverse operations for a given equation is explained below:
Solving Two- Step Equations Using Inverse Operation
When you use to solve an equation, the first process is to choose a variable and quantity. This is called as defining a variable. Here the process is to get the variable on one side and a number on the other side.
Ex
1. Solve the equation q + 15 = 45
q + 15 = 45
Solving for q, we get
q = 45 15
q = 30
2. The sum of 50 and a number is equal to 100. find the number.
Let A be a number. So from the question, we understand
50 plus number equals 100
50 + A = 100
Solving for A, we get
A = 100 50
A = 50
Solving Three- Step Equations Using Inverse Operation
When one or more operations uses in equation we have three steps to solve.Following are the steps involved in solving inverse operations for the three step- equations:
Reverse addition and subtraction outside parentheses.
Reverse multiplication and division outside parentheses.
Remove outermost parentheses and reverse the operation as the step 1 and 2.
