Using Light Meters To Measure Lux Levels In The Workplace

Factories and kitchens require between 500 and 750 Lux

Technical offices require between 1500 and 3000 light

Jewellers and goldsmiths require anything above 3000 L 3^4 ux

The light levels required outdoors tend to be much higher than those required indoors. The below list outlines just some of the lighting requirements:

Floodlit football matches require between 700 and 16,000 Lux

Suburban streets at nighttime require around 10 light

Car parks at nighttime only require around 1 Lux

When it comes to choosing a light meter for your workplace, there are a number of considerations that it is important you understand first. What is its Lux measurement range? What is its resolution and accuracy like? What maintenance is required to achieve correct results? You must also take into account the environment in which you intend to use the light meter if your workplace is partially outdoors, you will need a meter that is capable of measuring Lux on the higher end of the scale.

By selecting a light meter that is appropriate for the application of your workplace, you will be taking a positive step towards ensuring the health and safety of your employees. Just because you feel that you can see adequately in the space does not mean that doing so will not damage your eyes. When it comes to health and safety, it is always best to err on the side of caution it is better to be safe than sorry.
