Using Massage To Ease Arthritis Pain

Arthritis touches all of our lives in some way with millions of people not only in the United States but worldwide suffering from this condition

. Whether you yourself suffer from arthritis or someone you love, you can truly understand the pain that is so debilitating to those who are diagnosed. For many the pain of arthritis can range from minor stiffness and pain, while for others the ability to move their joints is next to impossible. Every year millions of dollars are spent in various medications, creams, and more trying to ease that pain but massage just may be the answer.

While there are many causes of arthritis from genetics to excess weight and even previous injury the end result is the same. In each the cartilage broken down and the joint damage leads to pain that seems to get worse when the humidity is high and the temperatures low. Those that do not have the disease do not realize just how painful it can be and how much it affects the areas where the joints are damaged the most.

The debilitating pain can make it anywhere from just stiff in the area to flat out impossible to move. When in the hands this makes simple things like picking up a small object extremely difficult. While for those with arthritis in the spine this can make standing difficult and walking unbearable. Research is showing that massage can help alleviate the pain that arthritis sufferers cope with every day.

As arthritis is becoming more and more prominent in all age groups it is becoming even more important to find a way to control the pain without continuously filling the body with medications, which are not always effective. Massage can help relief the stiffness and pain by helping to restore the flexibility to the joints. Massage can soften the soft tissue in the area making it easier to move around and improving flexibility. Massage can also help by increasing blood flow to the area, which will increase the nutrients the muscles need. This will also flush away toxins that build up in the area for a better feeling joint that is more mobile than before.

Of course to be truly effective massage will need to be done on a regular basis in order to keep the joints flexible. A visit to a massage therapist or masseuse though is expensive enough but if done on a regular basis the costs are way too much for the average person to afford. While there are a lucky few who have insurance that will pay for such a thing for most it is a cost they will have to absorb.

But many are finding that a home massage chair is just the answer to relieve their pain while not spending a fortune on massage. There are many massage chairs available for the home with varying features making them fit into a broad price range. Many include arm and calf massage features as well as the back and neck making them ideal for those who have arthritis in just about any area in their body.
