Utilising A Wind Tunnel To Prepare For A Sky Dive
Are you thinking of doing something incredible this year
? Something completely life changing? Something for charity? Or just something that will give you the kick that you need to get things moving in life. If you do then there is a whole host of things that you could try to get your year of 2010 of to the perfect start. Maybe you could look into running a marathon or half marathon, compete in a triathlon or take the ultimate leap of faith and jump out of a plane.
If you feel that the later is something that you would like to do, then there are a number of steps that you will need to follow in order to perform a jump. The first thing you might want to look into is attending a local wind tunnel. These wind tunnel facilities allow you to practice the art of free falling in a safe and controlled environment. Although you will be unlikely to take a sky dive on your own until you have proved that you are properly trained and can handle yourself in the air. It would still be worthwhile experiencing a number of the aspect that a wind tunnel can offer.
Firstly it will allow you to feel the differences that small body movements made by your arms or legs can make on the overall movement of your body in the air, allowing you to move left, right, forwards or backwards or in some case get into a spin.
Another benefit of utilising a wind tunnel will be the fact that you will be able to experience firsthand what it is like to have the air rushing past your body, and the positive aspect of all of this is that you can experience this without plummeting from 10,000 feet. Admittedly it won't be quite the same as when you are out in the open air, but at the same time you need to do something to acclimatise yourself to what it is like to feel completely out of control in a certain sense.
When you start to feel like you have got the basic body movements and control learnt it would be worth speaking to the owners of the wind tunnel to get them to turn up the power of the tunnel. This will then project you further up the tunnel and provide you with a more realistic experience to the real jump. You will also be able to gauge whether or not sky diving is something that you feel that you can do. There is no point waiting until you are 10,000 feet up in the air before finding that out.
