What Causes A Vaginal Yeast Infection?

Can I Get A Candida Infection from having Sex?
Yes but it is extremely rare. Most women do not get thrush from sex. The most common cause is a high fat diet.
Vaginal Yeast Infection Treatment
Most treatment treats and cures symptoms but doesn't cure the underlying issue. This is why many women suffering from recurring yeast infections and have to come back and get another prescriptions. These types of treatment are usually antifungal medicines that you can get over-the-counter but also from your doctor. Over-the-counter types tend to be suppositories you inset into the vagina. These can be great for relieving yourself from an infection but unless you make lifestyle changes you may end up with another one very quickly. These treatments are also becoming increasingly less likely to work in the short term as infections are becoming harder to treat and resistant.
In terms of treatment it is a good idea to clean up your diet. Eat a low fat diet consistently for a few months and you should see completely improvement or eradication of the cause.

There is evidence to suggest that two thirds of women who buy over-the-counter products for vaginal thrush don't in fact have a candida infection.
Should I call my Doctor if I think I have a Vaginal Yeast Infection?
Calling your Doctor is a good thing if you think you have a thrush issue because many of the symptoms are similar to other types of infections including sexually transmitted ones. Your Doctor will give you a pelvic examination to look for discharge and swelling. They may also use a swab to get a fluid sample to be extra sure.
