Vasectomy Reversal Alternatives
You've had a vasectomy, and now you've come to regret the decision
. Maybe you've finally met the woman of your dreams, and you desperately want to have children with her. Or maybe your life perspective has just changed, or any of thousand other reasons you might wish you had all your plumbing intact. But no matter what your reason is, you're not looking forward to having another operation down there.
While a vasectomy is allegedly a simple operation, it still has risks and even beyond the risks, any operation on such a sensitive area is going to be unpleasant and most men don't want to do it twice. This is completely understandable, and thankfully, there are vasectomy reversal alternatives for guys who don't want to go under the knife again.
The easiest option is to have banked your sperm prior to having had your vasectomy. Sperm stays viable when frozen for years, so if you were planning ahead, this is probably one of the easiest vasectomy reversal alternatives. The obvious drawback is that you had to have done it before you had the vasectomy. Unless you were regularly donating sperm before you had the operation, this isn't going to be helpful. If you did, though, this should be the first thing you look at.
If you're just interested in having a child, you can also use donor sperm. You can either use the sperm of someone you know or you can go to a sperm bank and select the attributes you're looking for in a sperm donor. This isn't likely to be an appealing option for many, but it is an option.
Once you move past those two options, you're going to be looking at medical techniques that involve extracting the sperm, either with a needle or a small surgical incision. In either case, they go into the scrotum and extract sperm directly which will then be used to inseminate the mother.
This is a lot invasive than getting the vasectomy reversed, and you can have enough sperm extracted for multiple pregnancies. The other benefit is that by using in vitro fertilization, you have a much better chance of achieving conception. As alternatives go, these make for a fairly attractive option.
Realistically if you've had a vasectomy and want to have a kid, you're going to have to endure a certain amount of discomfort. What you need to decide is which of the vasectomy reversal alternatives will work for you.
