Importance of healthy lifestyle
Unfortunately, not all young people realize the importance of a healthy lifestyle. Having certain misconceptions concerning ill habits, students associate smoking and drinking with the process of their personal maturity. Despite numerous scientific researches, students are not afraid of the harmful effects of their actions. The positive image of smoking people was created several decades ago due to the attempts of public relations specialists. They were aimed at selling as much cigarettes of certain brand as possible.
Nowadays most students' unions programs are aimed at getting rid of these misconceptions. The members of students' unions induce other students to avoid smoking and drinking in public places. Previously there were a lot of students' bars on the campus territory. Nowadays due to the efforts of students' unions their number was significantly decreased. Realizing that numerous lectures and demonstrations appeared to be not very effective, they take cardinal measures.
The reverse side of the coin
On the other hand, members of the students' unions need to realize that the forbidden fruit always appears to be the sweetest. It is questionable whether these measures will be effective for promoting the healthy life style in general. Still, the policy of decreasing the number of bars is effective at least for solving the discipline problems. Most of alcohol bars were turned to gyms and juice bars. Despite the initial opposition, these measures will have a positive impact on the public consciousness of the students' community in future.
Students will have to realize that rules prohibiting alcohol drinks and smoking on campus territory need to have a serious grounding. It will not be regarded an essential and ordinary part of students' life anymore. The main benefits of this policy are
1.shifts in public consciousness;
2.raising awareness of negative effects of bad habits;
3.getting rid of misconceptions concerning smoking and drinking.
