Vhs To Dvd - - 4 Tips For Making Great Vacation Videos
Do you like to take vacations? Of course you do
. Do you like to take home videos? I know I do. Here are four very useful tips that can make your next vacation home video even better.
1. Wherever your vacation is this year, try to get some video or photos that help you identify that location. Anything that looks interesting and gives information is what we are talking about here. You can use road signs, billboards, picturesque landscapes, tourist brochures, local maps, etc. You will want to edit all of this video and photos into the rest of the home video as "bookends" (on either side of the your video footage of your family and vacation activities.)
2. One of the most important things to remember is to make sure that you get a little bit of footage of every family member. Usually the children are the focus of our videos and Mom and Dad get ignored. Thankfully, with modern digital editing, you will be able to add photos of yourself and your spouse from the trip, just in case you did not get enough video footage.
3. Always try to take a few "candid" video clips. This is the kind of video footage that can turn into the shots that everyone in the family remembers most. There are a couple of ways to go about this. The first idea is to try to hold the camera in your hands for a while so as to let the family get used to it. This can sometimes ease the shyness many people feel in front of the camera so they can start acting more naturally. If that fails, then try turning the camera on, set the lens to a wide angle (not too wide, but not too narrow either), and then place the camera in a stationary place that can see all the action. You need the zoom lens to be wide enough to catch the action but not so wide that everyone looks far away. Just make sure that the lens isn't too narrow. If it is too narrow, your actors may be photographed going in and out of frame and that will just look weird.
4. Finally, my favorite technique. I love to capture the kids on video at their darned funniest. I always look for that classic moment and try to tape it on video. Kids really do say some of the the darndest things. Sometimes the conversation between my two boys (4 and 7) is so hilarious that I can't hold the camera steady. When they are totally absorbed in their playtime, they aren't really trying to impress me. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't but it is always worth the effort.
Well, these are just a few of my secrets that I use on my vacation videos. Use them and you will have more success - and fun - with your next vacation video. Good luck!
