Victoria, BC Real Estate Areas Part II - Westshore Community Real Estate


Home to the Empress Hotel and one of the oldest cities in Western Canada, Victoria is British Columbia's beautiful capital city. Located on the southern tip of Vancouver Island, the city of Victoria is divided into three main residential areas, which are Victoria proper, the Westshore and the Peninsula Communities. In this second installment of the three part series about Victoria, BC, real estate areas, the four Westshore Community neighbourhoods will be discussed.

1) Colwood

Colwood was incorporated in 1985 and is itself subdivided into a number of different residential areas, including Triangle Mountain, Colwood Creek, Colwood Lake Estates, Wishart and Lagoon areas. Colwood is home to the Juan de Fuca Recreation Centre and a number of golf courses including Royal Colwood, Olympic View and the Juan de Fuca course. The area offers an amazing beach and some of the best views of downtown Victoria. Royal Roads University also calls Colwood home. Real estate options include single family and multi family homes, as well as condos and townhouses.


2) Langford

Home to a large number of lakes, Langford is also subdivided into distinct residential areas, which include Florence Lake, Glen Lake, Goldstream area, Happy Valley, Langford Proper and Thetis Heights. There are also many parks in Langford, such as Goldstream Park, which also has a provincial campground. Other areas include the Olympic View and Bear Mountain developments featuring golf courses, a hotel and a spa. Real estate options include single family and multi family homes as well as condos, townhouses and waterfront properties.

3) Metchosin


If you are looking for the country life then Metchosin is the area for you. Mainly a rural community Metchosin is home to a variety of farm-related organizations and horse riding clubs, as well as the world famous Pearson College. The area is divided into neighbourhoods, which include Albert Head, Happy Valley, Kangaroo Road, Rocky Point and William Head. There are many nature trails, parks and golf courses in the area and horseback riding is also very popular here. There is a great oceanfront area at Witty's Lagoon and a popular lake called Matheson Lake. If you are looking for fishing, Pedder Bay is the place to be. Real estate options include single family and multi family homes, as well as farmland.

4) Sooke

Offering a wide variety of recreational activities from horseback riding to fishing and hunting to surfing and whale watching, Sooke is located just west of Victoria proper. Subdivided into seven distinctive areas, which include Broomhill, East Sooke, Saseenos, Sooke River, Sooke Village, West Coast Road and Whiffin Spit, Sooke was incorporated into the greater Victoria area in 1999. Sooke contains a large quantity of parks, such as East Sooke Park, Sooke PotHoles Regional Park and Botanical Beach Provincial Park, as well as nature trails including the Galloping Goose Regional Trail, West Coast Trail and Juan de Fuca Trails. Real estate options include single family and multi family homes, as well as condos, townhouses and waterfront properties.
