Villamartin Golf Course is perhaps one of the finest and favourite golf courses in Spain and the best in Costa Blanca

. It is located around 8 kilometres from the town of Torrevieja in Costa Blanca and a short drive from the Alicante - Cartagena motorway. This is the first course from the QUARA Group and was designed by Paul Puttman which opened for play in 1972. It is perhaps the most established course in this local Community.

The club displays class as soon as one enters the property, complete with a statue of an adorable lady golfer and fountain. No golfer will be disappointed by this 18 hole par 72 course. It has a few spectacular holes and several noticeable mansions on the border.

Villamartin Golf Course in your itinerary is sure to make you golf holiday exciting and special. The golf course here is very fascinating with several water hazards, strategically placed bunkers and other unique features. The vegetation at Villamartin golf course comprises of bushes and thick woods of olives, pines, rosebays cypresses, and several other species. The greens accept the ball well and, are not perfidious, but require cautious reading to come up with a satisfactory score card.

The 14th and 17th holes are dicey with a natural ravine which comes into play and demands concentration and skill from the golfer to cross the hazards. There is an elevated tee on the 17th hole, which is very intriguing. This a gem of a finale as you drive over trees and the hole turns left abruptly and the fairway looking like a line from your high position. The toughest and the most challenging on the course is the 303 metre par four 7. It is a downwards dogleg right to a green and is surrounded by cork trees, which can take some beating.

With its unusual design and unequalled setting, Villamartin has earned its name in the top golf courses in Spain. The vegetation here is very mature and offers a stunning backdrop. It has been home to the Spanish Open as well as other championships.. The course offers a circuit for golfers of every skill level to enjoy and you have to make use of all the clubs you have in your bag. The greens have been designed very intelligently and they are maintained to the highest standards. The course has an enjoyable clubhouse to relax after your round and enjoy food, beverage and good company.

The tournaments hosted at the professional level at Villamartin include the Mediterranean Open Volvo PGA European Tour, played in 1997. They also have hosted many important amateur competitions sponsored by companies like Audi Golf Tour, Mercedes Trophy and El Corte Ingls Golf Tour.

Golf equipments can be hired here however, if you are planning to play more than one round then it is better to bring your own golf set as the rent can add up.

The famous Villamartin Plaza has a number of restaurants and bars and is a perfect place for a fun night out. Villamartin Golf Club is situated a little far from the other golf courses in this region and you will need to hire car, as public transport is not very reliable.
