Geographical Location

Anekal villas is located towards south of Bangalore in Karnataka. Being a Taluk head quarters, it is around 35 kms from Bangalore. On NH-7 from Bangalore take right turn at Chandapur to reach Anekal. It is surrounded by Tamilnadu hosur Taluk towards east, Hoskote Taluk, Kanakpura taluk towards west, Bangalore east taluk towards north, Tamilnadus Denkanikottai & hosur Taluks towards south.

Total area of 54,518 hectares. Total population according to 2001 census 2,98,961. In 1996 Bangalore city district was formed comprising of Bangalore North, Bangalore south & anekal taluks. Anekal town history dates back to around 2000 yrs of Stone Age. Because of Elephant size boulders, the name called ANEKAL ( An elephant, Kallu Stone) . Another version tells that an Elephant was cursed to Stone, thats why the name.
