Vincent Van Gogh
Vincent Van Gogh was one of the most renowned painting artists & was born in Groot-Zundert
, Holland. Van Gogh was born in a pastor's family and was brought up in a cultured atmosphere. He was just 7 years old when he decided to paint his first professional painting. He started off his career at a really modest level as a clerk in a bookstore and finally decided to study art in Belgium. The works of Vincent Van Gogh were somber, strikingly beautiful paintings that belonged to every genre. One of the most popular works of this famed portrait artist's earliest works is "The Potato Eaters".
Though he had to face a lot of hassles for this actions after his first major break after the local priests of the respective Paris village forbade any of the local models to pose for him. In the year 1885, he again took up his brush to paint the still life paintings, out of which he was able to receive acclaim for his two works "Still-Life with Straw Hat and Pipe" and "Still-life with Earthen Pot and Clogs" from the critiques. In the year 1886, he travelled back to Paris to study at the Fernand Cormon's studio. During his stay in Paris at Montmartre, he painted many paintings that exhibited the streets of this region from all angles in a unique manner.
Van Gogh's brother, Theo was the manager of an art gallery in Paris and therefore he used to help his brother in selling off his works, but he couldn't be much of a help as the colors used by this brilliant artist were duller than the ones that were used by the art experts and eminent
portrait artists of those times like Pissarro, Monet, and Gauguin. That is when he realized and added the spark of bright colours to his brilliant works of art.
Vincent Van Gogh was a very anxious sort of person and therefore he couldn't manage a smooth personal and marital life with any of his spouses. The stress of the relationships and lengthy hours of work prompted him to move to Arles where he looked forward to the cheerful company of his friends. His health problems became so severe that they started exhibiting themselves in the form of epileptic fits. One fine day while he was fiddling with an open razor, his friend Paul Gauguin stopped him and in the midst of this hustle, Van Gogh accidently cut a portion of his ear lobe.
His friends were left with no other option then admitting him into an asylum in Saint-Remy for mental treatment. In the year 1890, when his mental condition got a bit stabilized, he moved to the outskirts of Paris to live along with his brother Theo. Though he got cured of the mental illness, Vincent Van Gogh realized that he was no more able to paint in the same way as before. This became the most prominent reason of his death on 27 July 1890.
