Vintage Bedroom Drama

When time is at an optimum, trying to find time to do any decorating can be difficult, however if you manage to get a free weekend, you can overhaul your bedroom in one fail swoop. In one weekend you add drama to a lacklustre bedroom, create vintage look with your bedroom furniture or bring a tired room together with a change in bedding design.

The first area for a mini overhaul is to look at your wall; are they looking tired or is there wallpaper trying to escape from the wall, is there little scratches that make it look untidy. Once you have assessed what it is about your walls that needs updating you can begin to organise what you need to door, if it is a simple task such as re-sticking wall paper then this can be achieved within a few minutes, however scratches can be a bit of an eye sore.

There are a couple of solutions to this problem, you can cover them over with your bedroom furniture, and by carefully positioning your wardrobe you can hide a myriad of sins. But to get that vintage drama we are looking for, try adding a large wall stencil, or attach soft sumptuous material to a board, add a few folds and voila, you have a dramatic textured wall art.

If you are a bit of a hoarder then creating the vintage look could be fairly easy for you, especially if you have a good selection of bold jewellery or chic neck scarves, draped on half body mannequin will add appeal, plus it will be much easier to find what you are looking for. You could attach decorative coat hooks to the wall and display your necklaces or scarves.

Lace is always good for creating that vintage feel, a single panel at the window will help diffuse light and it also has the added bonus of providing privacy. If you are concerned about light shining through at night time, you can always have a roller blind behind it and drop this down at night time.

For the vintage look your bedding needs to be in a creamy gold colour, the diffused light from the window will enhance this aspect of the room. As for the bedroom furniture, you probably won't need to spend out on major pieces, but the key is to keep the furniture light, preferably white.

Don't forget about adding the finishing touches such as pretty mirrored boxes, floral structured candle holders, ornate pictures frames and pretty bottles of perfume.
