Virgin Mary, the name behind< good morning.>
Language is a universal cultural heritage. No one knows how languages came into being; what triggered off or stimulated the formation of the words that make up the languages. The Quran has been bold to say that (Quran 55:4, Exodus 4:11-12); and so many of the words in use speak about God (Allah). He has other names not much known today.
Every English speaking person is familiar with the word< morning> associated with the first part of the daytime of light, time of awakening from sleep. In that part of the world where I come from, where greeting is part of everyday culture, or simply morning" never escapes the lips of most people.
This article seeks to examine the source of the word "morning". It takes its root from the syllable "mor". Let us look at these familiar examples:
More, mortar, mortal, morsel, moor, mare, marry, mar, margin, mere, merry, mercy, miry, miracle, mirage, mirth, murrey, murky, mural.
All these words carry one syllable changing vowels: a, e, o, i, u; the syllable is "mar". The syllable "mar" is the root of the name Mary. To date, the source of this name Mary is unknown, and so are those words mentioned above. In the book < Divine Mysteries of the holy rosary, pp 25-255) the < morning star> is mentioned among many others as an epithet or title of the Virgin Mary. How did she become a morning star when this is descriptive of Christ? In the bible (Revelation 22:16) Christ says,< I am the bright morning star>.
The< morning star> was anciently attributed to the Divine Mother Venus who was also known as Ishtar (pg 1851, Aid to Bible Understanding) Ishtar was the corrupt form of the divine name Krista. Any connexion with Christ?
The planet Venus, second in distance from the sun in our solar system is said to be the most brilliant and the brightest of the then known planets. Venus, whose name is still very popular in everyday use, was reputed to be the most beautiful woman, a personality that was radiant with light, shining and sparkling like crystal. (Check on the source of crystal or Krista)
The ancient Romans, who chose to call the Divine Mother Venus instead of Krista, personified "morning" as a goddess and called her "mater matuta". The French too call morning "matin". Mater, matuta and matin belong to the same source the mother.
The Divine Mother was so important and so much revered in the past that cities of repute were named after her the city of Rome, of Athens (Greece), of Jerusalem (biblical Zion) To date, every city in English parlance is "metropolis"(mother city) and one's former institution is called Alma Mater (The Bounteous Mother)
And so how does Mary come in here? Before written history the name Mary was known. She couldn't have been named Mary if the name was not known before her birth! The name was known in variant spellings like "Moriah" "Moreh" "Miriam" etc
The Hebrew patriarch Abram was said to have attempted to sacrifice his son Isaac in the land of Moriah (gen 22:3) Solomon built a temple for the lord on Mt Moriah (2 chronicles 3:1)
Moriah, Maria, Mary, Miriam are variant forms of the name of the Hebrew God Rahma(Ram) For proof of this read (Mohammed, by Maxime Rodinson pg 119 ; New World Translation of the holy scriptures, edition 1968 Appendix pg 1449). There the name < mar'ya> appears in Hebrew form. This name is no longer in use but the suras of the Quran proclaim the name Rahma and the bible is replete with the name in so many forms. The country of Israel today bears the name in places like Ramla and Ram Allah (Jordan), Ramat David, Ramat Hakovesh etc.
This was the God who was historically documented to descend to this earth like a human being.(see Bhagavad Gita chap 4:6,6:47,10:11) He was also known as Krishna or Krista. The book says
