New technology means that really good home entertainment systems are now affordable to most people. This includes surround sound speaker systems and HD TVs. These large widescreen televisions are very popular and are encouraging many people to watch more television, movies and play games.

This means that many people are becoming couch potatoes. Basically they are sitting down and staring at the screen all day instead of doing other activities. This is making people both fatter and more unsociable. It is also a problem for parents who are finding it more difficult to get kids to study.

Because these home entertainment systems are so impressive, people make them the centerpiece of the living room and even bedrooms. Therefore it is a good idea to try and and find a different use for these massive screens.

The solutions to watching too many TV shows, films and gaming, is to use a HDTV as a blank canvas for different video files. One of these options is a fireplace download. These are basically high-definition recordings of a real log fires which can be played continuously (looping).

These are very unobtrusive video files and are not something which encourages people to stare at the screen. What they do instead is create a nice relaxing atmosphere in the room which encourages people to do other activities such as reading, studying all talking.

A fireplace download can be purchased online for around five dollars. This is very cheap compared to the real thing, or even DVDs. These HD fireplace videos are excellent quality which means they could be played on any size screen. They can easily be copied and played on multiple screens in the house.

For people that do not own a real fireplace, they make an excellent alternative in the winter. Even though they are just video files, they do have a warming effect of the room, and certainly make it more cozy. Even people that have a fireplace will enjoy these video files because they can be used anytime of the year. For example in the summer months when it is warm nobody uses a real log fire. However a virtual fireplace can be used at any time to create a nice atmosphere in the room.
