. Icelanders have long had an affection for the little people, and local beliefs and folklore have it that the boulders around the town of Hafnarfjordur have elfin homes hidden inside.

Icelandic roads are very well signposted so you can hire a car in Reykjavik, take the Kingrumylarbraut onto the Hafnarfjararvegur and drive straight through to Hafnarfjordur which is also where there are great whale watching opportunities. It was from Hafnarfjordur that the whale who starred in the Free Willy movie hailed.

Just as in any foreign destination, driving regulations may be different in Iceland than what you are used to, so do some research before you set out.
