One of the most well-known Roman sites is the great St Peters' Basilica at the Vatican. An experience at St. Peters will have you talking about your trip for years to come. If you time your visit well, you may be able to enter the Vatican Museum free of charge. The museum is open to the public on the last Sunday of every month, or you can pay a small admission to see the basilica at other times during the month. See the burial place of the popes and take in the remarkable beauty of your surroundings at this historical and holy place.

Go to the Roman Forum to see the Temple of Saturn. If you love Renaissance art, visit the Galleria Doria Pamphili and the Museo e Galleria Borghese. A walk down the Via Appia Antica will have you traveling down one of Rome's oldest roads.
