The active form of vitamin D helps fortify the bones, assists in remodeling of the bones, and keeps the bone healthy without any complications, especially as has been seen in vitamin D-impaired ones. Although vitamin D is known to bring many good results, it was recently found out that vitamin D can be bad for the heart.

The American Heart Association presented a study at their annual Scientific Sessions Conference held in Orlando, Florida earlier this month. A vitamin D study resulted to the knowledge that excessive intake of the vitamin can result to atrial fibrillation which is a heart rhythm disorder.

The bone's mineral density and structure formation is affected by the levels of vitamin D in the body. When this fat-soluble vitamin decreases, weak and easily fractured bones are always the result. Once a person has a weakened skeletal structure due to impaired metabolism of essential vitamin D, he/she becomes prone to fracture and accidental injuries. One of the results is the medical condition called Ricketts. Our body needs an adequate amount of vitamin D for us to function well.

Vitamin D also has an important relationship with our neuromuscular systems. Vitamin D is also important in keeping ones inflammatory process especially with the numerous diseases that affects our the immune system's ability to differentiate foreign objects and own cells and tissues seen in the bone-deteriorating condition in osteoporosis. Proliferation and differentiation in check and unnecessary apoptosis can happen and with this vitamin, it can be prevented. Some patients have used Fosamax in order to help them while going through their osteoporosis condition. However, many complaints have been coming up the fore, including a Fosamax class action lawsuit.
