. Characteristic color to the skin is given by Melaninis pigment. Vitiligo occurs due to melanocytes (pigment Cells) destruction or if they are unable to work properly. Initially patches might be small enough might not be noticeable by others but with the passage of time gets large, changes shape and can cover most of the body area and becomes prominent.

Science is unable to disclose its real cause, but most of research claims that melanocytes can be destroyed by the abnormality of immune system, stress, critical sun burn can harm the skin, expose of skin to certain chemicals, neural cause. It is not transmittable disease, so Vitiligo person is not harmful for others. Vitiligo may also be genetic; so children whose parents have the disorder are at high risk to develop Vitiligo. Research has also showed that 30% people who are suffered from Vitiligo must be having a family member with the same disease. Though only 4 to 7 % of children inherit it from their parents.

Vitiligo is not common; almost less than 1% of the American population is affected by its appearance in their skin, and it is roughly estimated that around 2 to 4 million Americans have the disorder. Although the disorder, affects both men and women and all the races equally but it seems to be more common in people having dark skin. It can appear anytime but mostly appears in early phases of life between the ages of 10 to 40 years and mostly affects parts like hands, face, legs, genital areas and arms.

Vitiligo is not linked with any of physical health problems, although its impact on the patient life remains more painful. Many people become distressed, low self-confidence is noticed in them they mostly avoid meetings and public, try to be alone in one room so no one can see them and also some of them might lose their job or even may not be given a chance to work. Children having Vitiligo often suffers from depression and anxiety ,avoid going to school as their class mates, school mates starts making fun of them and as they look different from others. Michael Jackson king of POP, is one of the famous case who was very conscious, depress spent lot of money and gown through many treatments, plastic surgery, used makeup to hide patches and everyone made fun of him, and finally he became all white.
