Vitra Milton; A great value Bathroom Set for your bathroom!

Some years ago I had the privilege of living in a fairly posh part of London. I was renting a tiny flat in an area called Belsize Park which is around the corner from glitzy Hampstead, home to Jerry Hall, Bob Hoskins and Hugh Lawry who stars in the American TV drama 'House'.

The rent cost me an absolute fortune but I considered it the price you pay for living within ten minutes tube ride of central London where I worked at the time.

Now if you turned left out of my street you would be walking up the hill towards Hampstead village and the expensive shops - global brands clustered together in cobbled streets. But if you turned right you would walk down towards a place called Camden market where all the bargains could be had.

Upon arriving in Belsize Park I quickly learned that different types of people could be found in the 'uptown' and 'down town' shopping areas.

Up the hill you could find youngish people with cool shades and mobile phones - all buzzing in and out of the various establishments picking up the latest designer labels and knocking back cappuccinos. While in the market area at the bottom of the hill you could find the wealthier middle aged people buying the fruit and veg at the market and haggling over the price of a loaf of freshly baked bread.

There was a major difference between these two sets of people that went beyond their ages. The people that shopped in the market were the people that lived at the top of the hill in the expensive houses and the people shopping at the top of the hill lived out of town completely, traveling in by train from the cheaper outskirts.

Having noticed this I realized how much the younger generation aspire to being like the rich and will strive to be seen in the posh parts of town no matter the cost, while the rich are happy to shop for the bargains and save a few pennies here and there.

And so I guess it's no surprise that on entering my current employer's home I found that he had opted for a brand of bathroom suite that even I could afford - the Vitra Milton 4 Piece Bathroom set. It looks just like any other high quality bathroom set made from brilliant white china. But it costs a fraction of the bathroom suites with a designer label.
