Volcanic Landforms - What You Need To Know

Volcanic landforms are lands that are created when there is a volcano eruption

. They are common features that happen on our environment. Looking back, many geographers have tried to interpret what really happens and they have been able to come up with two processes that explain the volcanic landforms formation. The first process is the eruption of magma onto the earth's surface creating numerous landforms and secondly is the chemical weathering which erodes and substantially modifies the land. The landforms are controlled by the geological processes which form them and act on them after being formed.

There are various forms which may lead to formation of volcanic land forms. Some of the forms include shield volcanoes, stratovolcanoes, maars, cinder cones, volcanic domes and crater caldera. Research has also shown that volcanic landforms occur mostly on prairie areas. This is because the area is normally considered to be temperate and shrublands by ecologists. Volcanic landscapes have diverse landforms, the most known are domes, caldera and volcano edifices. All these types of landforms vary in shape, eruptive history and composition.

Most of the continents experience landforms, but no body knows when it can occur. Due the eruption many mountains have been formed e.g. Mt Fuji in Japan. What erupts is the larva beneath, which solidifies when it reaches the earth surface. After it solidifies it create a steep slope of volcanic landforms. The eruption also causes the land to explode forming ash and small rocks. Other related volcanic activities are springs and geysers these two can also lead to development of landforms. Lava is another volcanic element that when it solidifies it creates new land and after some time there is creation of islands.

Landforms can also be formed from intrusion of magma. This has happened in many continents and shiprock in Mexico is one example. Sometimes deposition and erosion can cause landforms, when tectonic plate's shifts it leads to the formation of landforms. The movements of these plates can cause archipelago landforms, these are islands made in groups of clusters to form a pattern. They normally form along ocean ridges. They are volatile in nature and they can be seen in ridges where it connects to the sea. Archipelagos are distributed all over the world and they form islands in the sea e.g. the Aegean Sea.

Many researchers have found out that volcanic landforms happen frequently in prairie; this is because in prairie the lands are dry and they are prone to soil erosion. Due to dryness the soil becomes weak and this can make the tectonic plates to move. Volcanic landforms cannot be avoided because they happen naturally, specialists can detect it but they can't prevent it from happening. As a matter of fact it is good to know what brings about all these eruption. Visiting online is one of the best ways that will help you know more about volcanic landforms. Geographers have been able to identify the most common causes of volcanic eruption, and this has made many to be aware of the geographical features associated with volcanic eruptions.
