Looking for something different to do in 2013

? A bit of a change from the day to day life of 2012? Well, for me 2011 was much like this and I wanted to make sure that I did something different to get away from the rat race, at least for a while in 2012. But what to do? Well, for me, I did not just fancy wasting my time at the side of a pool for a few weeks and class it as a change. So, instead, I signed myself up with a company called GVI as a volunteer for 4 weeks over the Easter break from my day job, or career as they call it these days.

Is Volunteering For Me? Where Can I Go? What Can I Do?

I had always wanted to volunteer abroad but had always needed to work and never managed to find the time to just up and go and help someone who I had never met in a foreign countryVolunteering abroad is a big commitment and you need to make sure that you choose a programme that you can handle and are interested in! There is no point signing yourself up for a wildlife conservation project helping world tortoises if the idea of animals makes you want to cry! For me personally, I wanted to help children and with the help of GVI got myself a placement teaching children in India.

I Can't Teach? What Am I Supposed To Do!

When I first arrived at my school in India, I was so nervous and felt as though it was my first day of school! However, after about 3 hours I found my feet and fell in love with the whole idea of being a teacher! Nevertheless, if you don't feel like teaching as a volunteer is for you, get online and see what other options there are for you!
