Vps Hosting - What You Should Know
Web hosting can be difficult to understand especially to someone less experienced with technology
. There are many options to choose from but how do you know which is best for you? Are you technologically advanced enough to run your own page using a dedicated hosting service? Will a simple shared server hosting service work for you? Or, should you consider going for something in between? The answer lies within you and the needs of your business. A shared or dedicated hosting service could best fit your needs, but there is another alternative that is fairly new; VPS hosting.
With a shared server, it is just that; shared. One server shared by multiple sites. To use an example, if one server is hosting 500 other sites, all 500 of these sites are sharing the random access memory, central processing unit, and disk space. This can limit individual usage because you can only use what is available. The sharing of resources can slow loading times or possibly cause other issues with your web page. On the positive side, this is the most cost effective way to go because it is less than dedicated server hosting and VPS hosting.
A dedicated server is one server for one website. This one website has access to all the resources from that server and does not share it with any other pages. These are usually used by more well-established businesses and by webmasters that have a higher level of understanding when it comes to technology. They have complete and total control of their page and the freedom to do what they want with it. The downfall is that in using a dedicated server it can very expensive. This type of cost is not feasible especially for those just starting out. In this case, VPS hosting is another option to consider.
With VPS hosting you, get most of the benefits of a dedicated server. A virtual private server is still shared but it is partitioned off making each page more individual. Each individual page is allotted a certain amount of resources but they have more of that individual freedom as they would with a dedicated server. This is a little more costly than being on a shared server but far less expensive than a dedicated one. As you can see, there are many options out there. It is best to do plenty of research and learn all you can so you can make an informed decision on which of these will best suit your needs.
