The Kansas City Chiefs and Philadelphia Eagles look to improve on their play as they meet in a week three pre-season game

The Kansas City Chiefs played well in the first half of their pre-season game against Tampa Bay but as the game went on the depth issues surfaced once again. Matt Cassel was 14 for 19 for 125 yards and a touchdown but Tyler Palko threw two interceptions and no touchdowns while completing 14 of 24 for 106 yards. The Chiefs gave the bulk of the carries in the backfield to jackie Battle who had 59 yards on 11 carries while Thomas Jones had 29 yards on eight carries and Jamaal Charles had 26 yards on five carries. Kansas City spread the ball around amongst their receivers as Dawyne Bowe had three catches, Charles had three, Chris Chambers had two and rookie sensation Dexter McCluster had a catch for 17 yards. Rookie Eric Berry and Linebacker Mike Vrabel were two of several Chiefs to record three tackles. Kansas City is clearly a team that still has a ways to go to being competitive on every single play and while Cassel will have his moments as will the rest of the team, the defense is going to need to step up and create turnovers for this team to be able to compete regularly.

While this year's Philadelphia Eagles are different in personnel from what we have grown accustomed to, in just their first two pre-season games, this team is already establishing an identity. It's clear the Eagles will be throwing the ball down field as Kevin Kolb seem well acquainted with DeSean Jackson and Jeremy Maclin and while we will still see short passes to the Running Back LeSean McCoy and Fullback Leonard Weaver, those plays aren't going to be the main focus. Michael Vick looks to have his legs back but his two interceptions last week could have been avoided and Mike Kafka has a lot of potential but the two picks he threw brought his expectations down to earth. The defense looks to be in good shape as they had three interceptions of their own last week, one each by Dimitri Patterson, Quintin Mikell, and Keenan Clayton. Patterson also forced a fumble as did Quintin Demps. The Eagles seem to have very little to worry about as far as their team but with all of the solid teams in the NFC they will be tested often.
